PVA Bridging

Students with a newly discovered passion for the arts who have yet to develop foundational skills will be placed in PVA Bridging following their PVA Application/Audition/Interview and with a confirmed CBE High School Transfer Request.

PVA Bridging allows prospective students the opportunity to come to Central and focus on skill development in their chosen program. Students enrolled in PVA Bridging are welcome to audition/interview once more after completing a fine arts course at the general level in their chosen area. These students will learn from PVA staff in their bridging semester and further develop fundamental skills and confidence in their artistic work.

The process usually looks something like this:

> PVA Application and Audition/Interview (January)
> CBE High School Transfer Approval (April)
> Successful completion of (ie) General Art/Drama/Dance/Fashion/Media Arts/Music 10 in semester 1 or 2 at Central, when it is offered in the timetable.
> Audition/Interview #2 (following January)

While studying in the General course, students who are aiming to audition once more for PVA should demonstrate excellent attendance, behaviour and attitude, course-work completion, and a willingness to learn and grow with their fellow art students and teachers.

Please note, that if you have come to Central on an approved  CBE High School Transfer and are considered a PVA Bridging student, if you are unsuccessful in your courses including your fine arts courses and/or have attendance or behavioural concerns within the school community, you will be required to return to your designated high school at the request of CMHS Administration. This policy is the same for PVA students who are non-designated for CMHS.
