Spoon River Anthology
April 2019
By Edgar Lee Masters
Spoon River Anthology is a collection of free-verse epitaphs of the dead townspeople of Spoon River, a fictional small town in Illinois. The poems are edgy glimpses into the back stories of lives come and gone. Spoon River is a celebration of music, small town life, distinct characters that eloquently speak to the challenges of their time, and of truths that could only be revealed in death.
